A Picture is Priceless

A few months back I posted an article on facebook describing the backlash the Duggars were receiving about taking pictures of their precious little girl, Jubilee that was stillborn at about 19 weeks gestation.  When I read what others were saying about them I was heartbroken.  I had just posted pictures of our sweet Isaac a few months before and all I could think about was what people were saying about him and about us behind our backs.  All it took was a little encouragement from friends and family to realize that until people have walked in our shoes they have no right to talk.  He was and is our baby and I will be forever thankful for the pictures we have of him.  Ok end of that soap box...

Friday I linked up with Kelly's Korner since her "Show Us Your Life' topic was for those that have lost children.  I received an email from the sweetest lady that also lost her precious little boy.  She was telling me that her biggest regret was not having any pictures or video of him, except for the picture that the hospital took.  She said it just never entered her mind because they were in the process of grieving.  She then found out about Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep a few days later.  NILMDTS is an organization made up of professional photographers that come to the hospital and take beautiful photos of babies that have already passed away or are expected to shortly.  They capture moments of those babies with their families that are absolutely priceless.  I found out about this organization while working in a high risk OB unit right out of college.  I also remember reading about them on Angie Smith's blog after they took incredible pictures of their angel Audrey Caroline.  Sandy Allen took her Saturday to come photograph the time we had with our Isaac.  We will forever be grateful for the gift that she gave us.

I know many of you have seen these before, but for those that haven't here are some of my favorite pictures from that day.

I know when I was pregnant with Isaac I went to any and every blog I could find of those that had gone through a similar circumstance.  I wanted to read about their journey and see what life was like "on the other side of things."  I promise not every blog post is going to be about losing Isaac, but I want this to be a place for those searching for information and encouragement as they go through their own journey.

  3. Hi Kacie!

You don't know me, but our husbands knew each other in college. He (Crockett) also said he met you a few times, but isn't sure if you would remember. I read about your journey with Isaac through facebook. I want you to know that I thought it was so beautiful that you took photos of him. They were so precious, and I am so glad to know about Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep in case I am ever in the same situation, or know someone who is. I cried as saw your joy and sadness through those photographs, and I am grateful to have experienced a small part of your journey. I pray God grants you a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby! I am expecting too =) This will be our second baby. Thank you for sharing your heart with all of us. I have been greatly blessed through it!

  4. Hi Kacie! I think I might know who you were talking about... :) I am so glad you are sharing about NILMDTS. What a wonderful organization they are and such a blessing to so many people. Blogs just weren't what they are now 6+ years ago - I love now all the people I've "met" thru blogging. The circumstances aren't always the happiest, but the relationships that have come from it are. So glad to be a follower now :)

    1. I think you do ;). Your email just touched me so much! Your right it's not always the most fun club to be a part of, but what a blessing it is to be surrounded by such an incredible group of people. God is so good. Thank you for sharing part of your story and your sweet son with me.

    2. Kacie, I stumbbled across your blog by my BFF's blog Nicole. After reading through this post I did not even have to read the comments to know who you were talking about when you mentioned NILMDTS.... I cant begin to understand the pain you mommies/daddies have in your heart from losing a child. But I am so happy that you have others you can connect with "meet" and have an outlet where someone on the other side understands. Nicole is great! And one of the sweetest people I have ever met. So glad she found you...

  5. Hi, Kacie. I stumbled across your blog through a RT on Twitter. Just read some of "Isaac's Story." These pictures are beautiful and precious - I especially love the last one of Isaac and his daddy (I'm a total sucker for babies and their daddies!) Thank you for your courage in sharing your story. I pray you find healing through it, and I know God will use it to encourage and strengthen someone else.

  6. Hi Kacie, after I read your comment on my blog I decided I needed to checkout yours. First of all I want to say how incredible beautiful Isaac is. It makes me happy to know that there are so many amazing little angels in heaven to play with my little Amelia. Then in the next breathe so sad too. I know that we will all be reunited someday in heaven and that they are there just waiting for us. I will pray for you and your family!
